Screw and CNC Machine Manufacturer:
A screw manufacturer came to Alpha with a 2024 alloy part which required hardcoat anodizing (Type III). Since 2024 is high in copper it can have a propensity to burn in the process.
Challenge:
The customer’s particular hinge part was not only 2024 alloy, but had a significant number of hot points that the design of the part required.
Action:
Our team calculated the surface area of all parts, as well as how many were going to be racked on a load. In doing this, we were able to measure the exact time and current density needed to slowly build up the coating thickness without having hot point areas burn.
Result:
The process was a success. The hinge parts were evenly coated with no burns.
